SCHOOL
MISSION STATEMENT: The Milton High School
community provides a safe, supportive and challenging
learning environment which fosters academic and
personal excellence for all students as they prepare
to succeed in the 21st century.
Milton High School is available
to those interested in moving into the Crooked
Creek Golf Community. Milton High School offers
students a program of instruction tailored to
their career interests within smaller, more personalized
learning communities or "academies".
Ninth graders begin in a freshman academy where
they receive their core academics. Ninth grade
is a transitional year in which students will
learn to increase their study skills, explore
and assess their interests and begin to narrow
career options.
About midway through the freshman
year, ninth graders are asked to select a curriculum
area in which they will focus their studies --
from either, a Humanities Academy, a Social Sciences
Academy, or a Math and Science Academy -- beginning
with their sophomore year. Their choice should
be related to their interests, special talents
and possible future career directions. Though
every student will receive the same core academic
curriculum, courses will be taught from different
perspectives based upon the academy selected.
